Is Being Overweight Your Fault?

Whilst I don’t intend to make you feel bad in any way, I feel it is important to tell you the truth about why you look, feel and perform the way you do.

A lot of people won’t tell you this. Instead they will tell you it’s not your fault and that someone else is to blame, or that it is because of your genetics why you are the way you are. Unlike those people I will not lie to you.

If you are overweight, or if you are at all unhappy with your body then it is your fault.

Unless there’s an underlying medical condition then the way you look, feel and perform is your fault. Even then a lot of medical conditions are caused through being unhealthy in the first place but I will give those people with medical conditions the benefit of the doubt.

However, if you don’t have a medical condition and you’re fatter than you should be, you’re not as fit as you should be, you’re not as strong as you should be, you don’t look as good as you want, your energy is low, your mood is low, your skin is poor and you are full of aches and pains IT IS YOUR FAULT.

Getting fat and being unhealthy is 100% your fault. It’s not partly your fault; it’s COMPLETELY your fault. You are the one who puts food in your own mouth and you are the one who has complete control over the activity you do.

If you are overweight and unhappy with your own body it is because YOU don’t eat a healthy diet and YOU don’t exercise as much as you should, not because of anyone else or because of your genetics.

YOU have complete control over your own weight and your own health.

Nobody forces you to eat unhealthy, nobody forces you to smoke and drink alcohol, nobody forces you to sit watching TV all evening, you choose to do that all on your own.

You need to realise that YOU and only YOU is responsible for your weight and your health. If you keep blaming other people then unfortunately nothing will change, you will keep gaining weight and your health will keep deteriorating. YOU need to take full responsibility for your actions. You need to take full responsibility for being overweight and having poor health and then you need to take full responsibility in taking action to lose weight and improve your health.

Nobody is going to lose weight and improve your health for you, people can help and support you but you have to do the work yourself.

Unfortunately people have been deluded into thinking it’s not their fault. They blame everyone and everything including genetics, food companies, the government, media, the medical profession and their friends and family.

It is very important that you know that there is far more money in keeping people fat and selling them an ongoing stream of quick fixes then there is in telling them the truth about their weight and health.

Some of the media’s biggest advertisers are companies that make billions of pounds selling unhealthy foods and millions of pounds selling quick fixes so the media won’t tell you the truth as they will lose money.

The government makes millions of pounds in taxes from the big companies selling you unhealthy foods and the government also makes a ton of money through the pharmaceutical companies selling you drugs and quick fix solutions which mask your underlying health problems. Because the government makes a lot of money out of you being overweight and unhealthy they are not going to help you either.

Honestly, the truth is the only person who can help you lose weight and improve your health is YOU. Your friends and family won’t even help you. Yes they love you but if you start making changes to improve yourself they often start to get jealous and hold you back. Because it takes a lot of effort to improve themselves it is easier for them to stop you improving so they don’t feel bad that you are improving and they are not. Yes there are some exceptions to this but in general if you tell a friend or family member that you are going on a diet and are embarking on an exercise programme they will tell you that you don’t need to lose weight and at any opportunity they will try and get you to cheat on your plan. They will tell you eating that chocolate bar won’t harm you or having a few drinks of alcohol won’t stop you losing weight and they will even try getting you to miss your planned workouts. Your friends and family aren’t trying to be nasty by holding you back, however, jealously is a part of human nature and people act on jealousy without even realising.

Until you realise that YOU and ONLY YOU is responsible for your health, then you will never be as healthy as you should, be as fit as you should, be as slim and toned as you should, look as good as you should, feel as good as you should and have as much energy as you should.  YOU are the only person who can do anything at all about your weight and health across the course of your life. If you are not at the weight you want to be or you’re not as healthy as you should be it’s because you’ve handed over responsibility to someone else instead of taking responsibility for your own actions.

I’m not judging you, blaming you or pointing a finger at you to make you feel bad about yourself. I’m merely stating a fact. The fact is your health is your responsibility and no one else’s.

Often it is only when things go seriously wrong that people start to take responsibility for their health.

When peoples health gets really bad they go into panic mode and try to repair what’s broken, however, this is usually too late. By this point people may have high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer or numerous other health complaints and degenerative diseases which unfortunately can’t be cured.

The good news is now you know your health is your responsibility and no one else’s, you have the power to make changes to your life to lose fat and be healthy so you don’t get to the stage where you have health complaints or degenerative diseases which can’t be cured.

Just because you are overweight doesn’t mean it’s all doom and gloom. Rather than feeling sorry for yourself that you are overweight you should look on the bright side that you can make changes to be healthy, lose weight, look better, increase your energy and increase your self-esteem. You can be the person you want to be and look the way you want to look.

Your fresh start begins right now. Don’t look back on the past and wish you had exercised more or ate healthier as there is nothing you can do about the past. Right now is the beginning of a new healthy life for you. It is the beginning of a new chapter in your life where you will be healthier, fitter, look better, have more energy and have more confidence. You have no excuses anymore as to why you’re not fit and healthy. You now know your weight and health is your responsibility so you have no excuse for not taking action.

You only have one chance at life so make sure you live a long, happy and healthy life at your ideal weight rather than an unhappy life which is full of disease and illness and premature death due to you being overweight and unhealthy.

Do you carry on feeling sorry for yourself that you are overweight and unhealthy and get angry that I have pointed out to you that being overweight and unhealthy is your own fault, or do you take responsibility for your current health and make a commitment to lose weight and improve your health?

I hope it’s the latter.

This post is in no way intended to make you feel bad about yourself; it is intended to point out that you need to take responsibility for your own health. If you do feel bad about yourself after reading this post then it will likely be because you feel guilty that you haven’t taking action sooner. The sooner you start taking action the sooner you will feel better about yourself.

Unfortunately some people will get angry at me for pointing out it is their fault they are overweight. These people who get angry at me will continue to stay overweight and unhealthy because yet again they are refusing to take responsibility for their actions. They will be making excuses yet again why it’s not their fault they are overweight and instead of using their energy to take action, they will be using their energy to make up more excuses.

The simple fact is if you are overweight and unhealthy it is COMPLETELY YOUR OWN FAULT, but the good news is you can change it right now if you really want to.

If you want to lose weight and you want to lead a healthy life then go do it.

You are the solution, in fact you are the only solution to your health and weight issues so go and take action right now.
